The parent company, Micelle Laboratories, Inc. is privately held and was established in 1980.
While Micelle Laboratories was involved in the development of nutritional products for humans, the research and development team began investigating animal health diets specifically in the area of dogs and cats. International Veterinary Sciences, Inc. was established in 1989 to create pet nutritional products that would help correct deficiencies existing in animal diets.
Nutrient Deficiencies Found in Animals
In studies supervised by veterinarians, key nutrients were found to be especially inadequate in an animal’s diet. Omega-3 Fatty Acids, which help to reduce joint pain and stiffness and increase joint mobility were found to be practically non-existent in a pet’s daily regimen. All of International Veterinary Sciences products targeting joint mobility, itching and scratching, as well as nutritional treats provide Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Vitamins A & E were also deficient in pet’s diets and are known to be essential for normal skin functions, and maintaining a healthy skin and hair coat. These nutrients are present in several topical and oral supplements we provide for your pet.
Through various studies, it was also determined that low nutrient absorption was a common problem in animals diets. Micelle Laboratories, the manufacturer of our products uses a unique Emusol® Micellization process, a patented liquid technology for quicker and better absorption of fat soluble nutrients. Using this process, a pet’s absorption rate would be expected to increase dramatically therefore ensuring adequate nutrition uptake.
